Am I Really Starting a Blog?

I'm 25, married, and recently graduated from law school. I sat for the bar exam, and am awaiting results. I'm job searching. All signs indicate that I am "grown up."

Everyday, I sit around the apartment, spend countless hours on my laptop, watch awful tv shows and saunter down to the gym every once in awhile. This does not say "grown up" to me.

Some of those countless hours on the laptop are spent reading blogs. I am currently following 10 blogs. I'm not sure if this is a lot or not, but all of them are food related. Did I mention I like food? I really, really like food. I love to cook. It relaxes me. A blogger who likes to cook...original? Many of these blogs are quite good. In fact, I think some of them have won blogging awards (there are such things, right?). They are so good that they have inspired me to attempt to create a blog.

Well, blogs are only part of the inspiration. It's also partly my husband. My husband is in law school (don't worry, we've heard all the advice and jokes about two lawyers in the family). He is a 1L. For those of you who went to law school, you know what that means. For the rest, suffice it to say that the jokes are not that exaggerated, he does spend a lot of time studying and it does require the apartment to be completely quiet. I can't really begrudge him this since I demanded my fair share of quiet when I was in law school, oh so many months ago. It's just that it's a lot of quiet. And as much as I do enjoy reading blogs, playing sudoku, and stalking friends on Facebook, after awhile there are only so many words that my mind can stare at without wanting to spit something back out. So here I am, adding my own tiny little voice to the internet.

I'm not sure what this blog will yet be about. In typical fashion, I may post a few times and then abandon the enterprise. It wouldn't be the first time I've started something and not seen it through. It will probably focus on life as an "adult" in D.C., on law school, on job hunting, on marriage, on life after marriage, and on food. Here's to keeping myself entertained on quiet weeknights.
